As part of the whole school maths investigation, Year 3 explored different totals that 2 and 3 spotted ladybirds could make. The children showed amazing grit and determination skills and were all very successful.

myHappymind in year 4
Here are some year 4 children enjoying their myHappymind lesson. In the celebrate module, we have been learning about character strengths we have and how we show them. The children used some time to reflect about which character traits they have used recently and wrote about them in their journals.
Year 1- Remembrance Day
We have found out about Remembrance Day. Mr Honor joined our Year 1 assembly and told us about what he used to do before he joined Queen’s Hill.
Remembrance Assembly
Thank you to all those who joined us for Remembrance Assembly this morning. I think we can all agree that the Year 6’s presented themselves with the utmost respect and decorum for this special occasion. They have been working hard to learn their lines off by heart and deliver them to a huge audience with confidence and clarity. Year 3 pupils also created their own poppies and our school canteen kindly created special poppy cakes in recognition of remembrance day.
Well done Year 6 for bringing a tear to many an eye this morning! You should be very proud of yourselves.

Purple Poppies
Year 6 made purple poppies to remember the animals that have helped in war. We were really impressed with the concentration and grit and determination shown by all the children!
Remembrance Day Poppies
Art club have created poppies in preparation for our Remembrance assembly tomorrow. The children have used the cross-stitch skills they have been learning. They’re looking wornderful!
Year 5 – Author Visit
On Wednesday, some children in Year 5 enjoyed a visit to the bookshop ‘Bookbugs and Dragon Tales’ for an author visit. We learnt about the process of making a book from the first draft through to the final published copy. We explored a book called, ‘The Five Peppers’ which was written over 100 years ago about a family with 5 children called ‘The Peppers’. We are looking forward to reading the book in school. We also got to design our own front covers and choose some books for our class libraries.
Year 3 Science
We have been learning about forces in Year 3 and completed an experiment looking at different surfaces today.
Dictionaries for every pupil!
Today EVERY child in Year 3 went home with an illustrated dictionary, kindly donated by the Rotary Club. As you can see from their faces the children were very happy and can’t wait to use them at home. A big thank you to the Rotary Club for organising this!
Year 1 Christopher Columbus
We have found out more about Christopher Columbus this week. He was a brave explorer who sailed ships across the sea. He had to use special equipment to do this such as a compass and maps. He didn’t have google maps! He learnt to sail when he was very young. We wrote a certificate for him to celebrate some of these things.
