Year 3 had fun problem solving today. We applied all of the skills we had learnt so far this week.

Year 6 Romeo and Juliet drama workshop!
Year 6 were fully immersed in the world of Shakespeare during their drama workshop with our expert visitor!
Children took part in a series of warm-up activities – including becoming Madame Tussauds waxwork models and terrifying monsters! They then developed Romeo and Juliet freeze frames in groups and asked each other insightful questions surrounding these still images.
Next, they used these skills as a way into both exploring the text and language whilst also considering how the Prologue and Act 1 Scene 1 are ‘delivered’.
Everyone was so enthusiastic and engaged – it was wonderful to see. We are very much looking forward to seeing how children get on with their newspaper reports this week. They will be reporting on the civil disturbance caused by the two warring households – the Montagues and the Capulets – causing bloodshed and pandemonium amongst fair Verona’s streets!
Year 6 Historians
As part of The City of Norwich Aviation Museum’s outreach, Year 6 were able to explore World War Two primary and secondary sources by handling some interesting artefacts today!
When you do research, you gather information from a variety of resources. These can be defined as primary and secondary sources.
Primary sources give you direct access to the subject that you’re researching or learning about. They can provide you with a first-hand account of an event or time-period, represent original thinking and give you new information.
Secondary sources provide second-hand information and often offer explanations for primary sources. They analyse, interpret and restate information from primary sources.
Children looked at gas masks, a warden’s steel helmet and even a German incendiary bomb!
Angles in Year 4
It’s been a busy week in year 4. We have also been learning about angles! The children are now able to identify acute angles, right angles, obtuse angles and reflex angles. We used masking tape and drew the angle onto the tables!
Girls’ Football @ Goals
This week, some of the girls’ in year 3/4 and 6 got to take part in a football competition. The girls’ played very well with the two teams scoring lots of goals and showing great teamwork. They all had a fantastic time and represented Queen’s Hill very well.
Cross-Stitch in Art Club
Miss Taylor, Miss Earl and Miss Osbourne have been busy in their after-school art club, teaching the children cross-stitch skills. They all designed their own templates, before choosing coloured thread to create their own pictures and patterns. We think they look amazing!
#WeWill Sing – Y5
The children have been busy over the last 6 months learning the songs ‘One moment, one people’ and ‘When I Grow Up’. Today they got the chance to perform with other schools, from across the county, at Ormiston Victory Academy. They were also taught the BSL actions to go along with the songs. We can’t wait to invite you all to the final performance – watch this space for a date to be announced.
Year 1 Strange Arrival
A mystery suitcase turned up in the Year 1 classrooms at the start of this half term. We tried to work out who it might belong to. It turned out it belonged to Christopher Columbus. He visited our classrooms the next day. We thought about what a question is and then asked him some of these to find out who he was and what he did. We found out he was an explorer who lived a very long time ago. He sailed ships and discovered new places.
