Year 2 Geography

Year 2 have started their first Geography unit where they will be comparing Norwich to Shanghai by looking at local Norwich landmarks and constructing models of them. Each class worked on a different landmark and produced replicas of Norwich Castle, the Cathedral and Carrow Road.

Year 2 Art

Year 2 have started their first art project of the year and have been exploring art in nature. After learning about artists who use the landscape and natural materials in their work, the children collected natural objects and then used them to create patterns and pictures.

Bookbugs Bookshop Visit

Some children from Year 1 and Year 2 had an exciting trip to Bookbugs and Dragon Tales bookshop where they met author Robert Tregoning and illustrator Stef Murphy. They listened to Robert and Stef’s new book ‘A Fairy Called Fred’ and then designed outfits to grant wishes just like Fred the Fairy!

Year 2 – Science

Year 2 have been investigating world habitats in their Science lesson, they used books and iPads to research their chosen world habitat. Then they drew a diagram of that habitat and wrote a description explaining which living things lived there and the special features they needed to survive.

Year 2 History

Year 2 have been learning how to be historians during their History lessons. They have been using picture sources as evidence and matching them to statements about life on board the Titanic. They have also been evaluating the reasons why the Titanic sunk and ranking them from most important to least important. They did a fantastic job explaining their ideas to their talk partners.

Y2 Computing

This half term Year 2 are learning about digital photography. They have learnt what makes a good photograph and have used this knowledge to take high quality photographs of objects in the classroom and outdoor scenery.

Year 2 History

Year 2 have started their History topic all about the Titanic. First they used their inference skills to examine a piece of evidence. Then they created a ‘Talking Timeline’ showing the key events during the Titanic’s journey in chronological order.

Year 2 Maths

Today Year 2 have been applying the multiplication and division skills they have been practising in lessons and became tiny teachers! They worked together in pairs to mark a Maths quiz Miss Hunter had completed and fixed any mistakes they found.

Year 2 – Fabric Printing

This week Year 2 finished their dip dye unit by printing onto their dyed fabric using the printing blocks they made earlier in the unit. They chose one colour of paint and carefully printed a repeating pattern on to their fabric. They did an amazing job!
