Nursery: The Gingerbread Man

This week, we have been looking at the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We explored loose parts to create a gingerbread man. We also played some gingerbread man themed maths games and explored magnets and hooks on the cranes/lorries to carry a load.

Y5 Eaton Vale

Y5 had an amazing time on their 2022 residential at Eaton Vale. They took part in lots of sport and adventurous activities and were able to enjoy being outside and running around. The children faced their fears head on with the heights of the trapeze and the confined space of the cave bus. Luckily the sun shone on the last two days so when it came time to jump into the river we were able to dry off in the sun. The food prepared was delicious and we even got to celebrate with a bbq on the last night.

Congratulations to the hard-workers in Year 6!

Congratulations to all in Year 6 for finishing your SATs! You have all worked incredibly hard and we are all very proud of the effort and determination you have put into your work building up to this week!

We hope you enjoyed your well earned ice-lolly and cinema afternoon!

Nursery: Little Red Riding Hood

Last week, we continued to focus on the story of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. We discovered paw prints in our classroom and thought they might belong to the big, bad wolf. We created wanted posters to find the wolf and made traps. The children enjoyed sticking their posters up around the classroom for others to see.

Year 4 Art Day Week Beginning 02/05/22

In Year 4 this week, we have had an Art day. We have been making printing blocks from cardboard and Styrofoam. We experimented with shapes and patterns, as well as different surfaces such as paper and fabric. We finished the day by creating collographs, which we are excited to use when they’re dry. Here is some of our work.

Year 1 Writing

Year 1 has got off to a great start for Summer term with their writing. We have been looking at attractions in Norfolk and the features of posters. Children then created their own posters based on some of Norfolk’s attractions.

RWI information for nursery parents

In nursery, we have started to learn our set 1 phonics sounds. We follow the Read Write Inc. scheme for phonics. In RWI, each sound has a picture card and a rhyme to help write the sound. Your child will be familiar with letter names from learning the alphabet song. In phonics lessons we talk about the sound and the rhyme to help us write that sound. In nursery, we will be focusing on the children pronouncing the sound correctly. The children will be given opportunities to mark make and form the sound throughout their play e.g. painting in glitter, writing with chalk, forming the sound with loose items.

Clear pronunciation of sounds is extremely important. This video will demonstrate how to say sounds clearly.
