Year 1 Trip

Year 1 had a brilliant trip to the Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell today. All children got to make their own toys and explored a range of different toys from the past.

Nursery Artwork

This week in Nursery we have been looking for shapes in the artwork of Andy Goldsworthy. The children have then created their own pieces using different shapes.

Careers Fair

Friday 1st November Year 5 and 6 attended our school careers fair. This invent was well attended by local business and some parents in the profession of engineering, photography and hairdressing also supported the event. We had John Innes – science, Intel – computing, Norse – catering, Kerrison Toys – retail, Aviation Academy and Rotary Club members talking about management positions.

Photos from the event are on display in Aspiration Ally and the children wrote on leaves their future career aspirations which are on display on the Aspiration Tree outside at the visitors entrance.

Grandma Visits Year 1

This week year 1 invited a special visitor into school. Miss. Phillips’ grandma came into school to talk to all of year 1 about the toys she played with when she was young. The children asked some really interesting questions and we’re fascinated to find out more about toys from the past.

Champion Boxer Visits Reception

This week reception were visited by a champion boxer. She talked to the children about having perseverance and grit and determination in order to achieve her goals. The children looked at her medal and tired on her boxing gloves!

We have had a fun week learning about Diwali, sharing the Gruffalo story and learning about Halloween.

Problem Solving in Year 1

This week we took part in a whole school maths investigation. We thought about how many hands we would shake if we gave everyone in our class a hand shake. Then we thought about how many we would shake if we only shook one person’s hand in a learning pair. Children used resources and worked together to problem solve.

Year 5 Greek Day

Year 5 have begun reading Journey to Jo’burg this week and have enjoyed discussing the themes contained in this book during our English lessons. We have also been practising with written methods for multiplication, including the Grid Method.

We forgot to mention before half term, but Year 5 had an amazing time at our Ancient Greek’s experience day too – check out the images to see some of the things we got up to!
