Year 4 Times Table Cafe

Thank you to all the parents and carers who came into school this morning to support our year 4 times table breakfast café. It was lovely to see you all taking part in activities, crafting and playing Times Tables Rock Stars together. Please continue to support us by encouraging your children to practise their times tables ‘little and often’ at home.

Year 3 Times Table Cafe

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who turned up for this morning’s year three breakfast café. We enjoyed fruit juice, croissants and pain au chocolat whilst learning more about the Times Table Rock Stars app. There were also lots of paper games, activities and things to make to support children with learning their times tables. We would love to see them continuing to practice their times tables at home.

Corridor Displays Autumn

Our corridors are looking bright with all the new year group displays. Art work was created for this from our start of year art project which was themed around ourselves. Our teachers also created artistic self portraits to represent themselves and their personalities too. Have a look through and see if you can see work from your child’s class or their teacher.

Year 4 – Roman Day

Year 4 had a fantastic Roman Day with Titus Flavius. We learned about life as a Roman legionnaire, practised marching, held weapons, tried on armour, asked lots of questions and all managed to pass the 5 stages of becoming a Roman soldier. Back in class there were lessons on Roman numerals and we all tried making our own mosaic from tesserae.

Year 4 Art Modroc

Year 4 really enjoyed exploring Modroc this afternoon as an art media to create a sphere. We used scrunched newspaper as a base, and water to activate the plaster before spending time shaping the surface. Next week we are hoping to create some food and fruit sculptures.

Year 4 at the Norfolk Show

Year four had a fabulous day out at this year’s Norfolk Show 2025. We learnt about local agriculture, watched farm machinery in action, took part in sports events, learnt all about the armed services and emergency services, sat in some sports cars, watched sheep being sheared, pigs being raced and so much more. The year group came home with many happy memories as well as lots of stickers and freebies!

Year 4 – food tasting around the world

Today year four were lucky enough to be able to try a range of different foods from around the world. These included such delicacies as pierogi from Poland, papaya from Mexico and samosas from India. They evaluated their smell, appearance, texture and taste and gave them a score out of five stars. We look forward to making some of our own international cuisine next week.

Year 4 Trip – West Stow Anglo-Saxon village

Today year four had a fantastic day trip to West Stow near Bury St Edmunds to visit the Anglo-Saxon Village. They got to explore the artefacts on display in the museum; handled some replica artefacts and were able to look around a reconstructed village of the time. We had to use lots of our historian skills to help us imagine and learn about what life was like for these early settlers in Britain. Our history topic will continue for the rest of the half term as we learn more.

Year 4 science melting

In our science lesson this week year four were investigating the melting point of butter, chocolate and cheese. We used hot water and foil cake cases to do this safely, making careful observations over time. We then used these observations to help us draw a conclusion.

Year 4 polar explorer visit

Today year 4 were excited to have a visit from polar explorer Adrian Hall. He spoke to us about his expeditions, showed us all the equipment he packed in his rucksack and shared lots of photos at the start of the day. After this, he worked outside with every class, teaching them about map reading and compass skills before they completed a treasure hunt around the school grounds. We had a great day and now feel we know a lot more about the life of an arctic explorer.
