This week, Year 2 received a letter from ‘Henry the hedgehog’. He asked us for some help to build a waterproof home with transparent windows. We had fun putting on our scientific hats to spend time testing out various materials to see which we thought would be most suitable for him. After our research, we had a go at building him a home using materials of our choice.

Colour Hunt Cafe
Welcome to our Early Years Colour Hunt Cafe!
We hope you enjoy listening to the story ‘We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt’ read by Miss Wright. You can then watch some videos for activities that you might like to try this afternoon or over the weekend.
Miss Compton is showing you a colour wheel activity. You will need: access to colourful objects.
Miss Smart is showing you a journey stick activity. You will need: access to the outdoors to find natural materials, a stick and some tape.
Miss Butcher is showing you how to thread leaves to make a leaf crown/belt/necklace. You will need: access to leaves, string and a hole punch or pencil to poke holes in leaves.
Remember to wash your hands after you have been outside and to return the natural objects back to their homes in nature when you are finished with them.
We look forward to seeing photos of your creations!

We’re going hunting!
The children in Reception have been busy innovating the popular story ‘we’re going on a bear hunt’ this week. We experimented with changing the settings to new ones, thinking of ways to describe them. Some children decided to keep the original settings and change the character that they were hunting for, from dragons, to tigers to snails! The children had a go at recording the journeys within their stories on story maps.

Year 5 Bikeability
Year 5 have really enjoyed their Bikeability lessons this week. They’ve been gaining practical skills and understanding how to cycle safely on the roads.
Where we live…
This week we have been Geographers learning about where we live. We have looked at maps to see where we live and learnt that we live on a continent called Europe. It was fun looking at a birds eye view map of our school – we spotted the muga and our playground!

We then enjoyed creating our own birds eye view map of our classroom. We challenged ourselves to include a key on our maps.

Year 6 Writing Workshops
The week we have been inspired by Luke Temple’s writing workshops. In these pictures we are creating our own mutating mansions. We are really looking forward to writing some amazing stories!
Exploring our new Early Years outdoor area
The children in nursery and reception have been so excited to explore our new outdoor area! We have a new texture kitchen to make pies, potions and perfumes, a core strength area, water wall, maths and literacy zone and our own mini ‘Community Park’. A big thank you to Cool Canvas for creating this amazing space for our children to learn 🙂
