Year 5 have been testing in the last few weeks, but this hasn’t stopped us from being creative! We have been working with the text ‘The Storm Unicorn’ and have represented our own unicorns for non-chronological reports using water colours. In maths lessons, some of us have created number snakes – like those in the images – to represent adjacent numbers producing square numbers.

Mysterious Footprints in Reception
This morning the Reception classrooms had some mysterious footprints. They led to a letter from Santa asking the children to send him their Christmas lists. This week the children are applying their phonics knowledge to write these letters. They have been working on folding the paper into the envelope and used scissor skills to cut out and stick on a stamp. Hopefully they will get to the North Pole in time!

Voting in Reception
Today Les Papillions Rouges talked about the election. We decided to vote for what we watched at snack time. The children used a piece of Duplo to choose what they wanted to watch.
Year 3 get voting!
Year 3 have been learning about the 2019 General Election. They received their polling card, read the manifestos for the four main candidates, wrote their own manifestos, shared their manifestos and posted their vote into the ballot box.
Year 6 Learn about the general election
In Year 6 today we have been learning about the 2019 General Election. We spent some time looking at the manifestos of different parties and then have applied our measuring skills to build our own rosettes to wear when we visit our own polling station here at school on Thursday. We had to measure out the size of the ribbons for our rosettes and also used a compass to accurately draw a circle to match a given criteria (a certain diameter).
Year 2 Learn about Constellations
During this lesson, we learned about constellations. Then, we recreated one of the well-known constellations with spaghetti and marshmallows. Afterwards, we drew constellations onto black paper using chalk.
Year 2 Cafe
During our Year 2 Christmas Cafe, we read the story ‘The Christmas Jolly Postman’. Then we designed and made our own board games which included multiplication number sentences. It was great fun! Thank you to all the grown ups who came!
New Gazebo in Key Stage One
Thank you to the friends of Queen’s Hill Primary for their kind purchase of a new gazebo and play equipment in our Key Stage One playground. The children have really enjoyed getting to use the new equipment during their playtimes!

William Morris Artwork
Year 3 have been looking at repeated patterns inspired by the Victorian artist, William Morris. They created observational drawings of flowers and leaves before embossing their designs into foam and printing them in a repetitive design.
Year 6 Cafe
Thank you so much to our Y6 pupils and their families for attending our Advent Pyjama Party Cafe! We read a Christmas story wore our pyjamas, had hot chocolate and made our own Christmas decorations from recycled paper.
