Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Scale F  37 hours a week ( term time plus 1)  

We are looking for an outstanding team player to join our fantastic school. This post would suit someone with experience in KS2 although you would be expected to work across the school, from Nursery to Year 6.

The successful candidate will ensure that children are cared for in a happy, safe and stimulating environment. We have fantastic facilities (including a cookery room, a hall, separate dance studio and 2 libraries) and we are committed to delivering a creative curriculum.

Many of our teaching assistants have used our school as a stepping stone into a career in teaching or speech and language therapy.

If you are interested please demonstrate the following essential qualities through your application form:

Excellent organisational skills
Ability to work as part of a team and on your own
Experience of working in a primary school
An understanding of child initiated learning
Excellent literacy skills (handwritten and using IT)
Confidence (the teacher and teaching assistant work as a team and you will be covering absence and some PPA sessions across the school)
Speech and language experience (desirable)
Knowledge and understanding of working with autistic children (desirable)
Knowledge and understanding of working with visually and/or hearing impaired children(desirable)
An understanding of outdoor learning (desirable)

We have vacancies for an Assistant Caretaker and a cleaner. These roles could be combined.

We are looking for a person or people who are flexible, adaptable, enthusiastic and energetic. You will take pride in keeping the
surroundings clean and shining. A team player you will be happy to be a lone worker with common sense and initiative.

Assistant caretaker:
15 or 16 hours termtime plus 4 weeks

likely to be 2pm-5pm daily (however if combined with cleaning 1-7pm)

Principal duties:

responsible for the security of the school (including key holder responsibility)

supervise the cleaning of others

clean designated areas to a high standard

undertake porterage and handy person duties, including moving goods and furniture

undertake outside duties

other duties to assist the caretaker

cover the caretaker and his duties in their absence


15 or 16 hours termtime plus two weeks

3-6pm daily

(although split shift would be considered either end of the school day)

To start as soon as possible
