A very warm welcome to Queen’s Hill Primary and Nursery School. This site is for our visitors, parents, friends of the school and those who are interested in working at Queen’s Hill School.

Queen’s Hills is a developing estate and is part of Costessey, about 5 miles from the City of Norwich in Norfolk. Originally owned by Lord Stafford (hence the Stafford knot in our logo), the land became used for gravel pits and in 2004 Cofton’s bought the site and has since sold to a number of developers. Unusually it was decided to build our school before the development was completed.

We opened on Monday 8 September 2008 with just 29 pupils aged between 4 and 11 years old with capacity for 315 pupils. In 2013 two additional classes were built and the Local Authority are currently looking to develop the school to cater for 630 pupils in the main school.

Our aim is to be at the heart of the Queen’s Hills community. The school is used by a number of groups during the evening and at weekends, including the outdoor sports area. Learning the skills to become a member of the community, whether that is a member of Queen’s Hills, Costessey, Norfolk or even wider is crucial for our young people.  Our links with schools in other countries help our young adults of the future to appreciate what it means to live in a global society and help them to realise that the world is diverse, becoming ever more accessible and that we all play a part in its future.

We strive for all of our children to have a “Passion for Learning”, we teach them to have a “Growth Mindset” and to show resilience and independence in their learning. We have high expectations of staff and children alike and we do not put a limit on what can be achieved, both academically and in other fields such as sport, drama and music. Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s education. Being a parent is one of the hardest (but most rewarding) jobs in the world and we have a Parent Support Advisor attached to the school who is available to work alongside parents in their own home or at school.

We have a dedicated staff at Queen’s Hill. Our staff are good community role models for the children and spend time with the children in after school and lunchtime clubs and accompany their class to dinner. We value the professional development of all of our staff and provide opportunities for them to take on a variety of responsibilities.

Families are welcome to join the school as soon as they move in to the estate, although we do sometimes limit starting dates towards the end of term, especially if class structures are due to change. Places in our Nursery are limited and are allocated on a termly basis. Should you require any further information or if you would like a visit around our school, please give us a ring or email office@queenshill.norfolk.sch.uk
